SPOILER: Summary: SPOILER

Whilst Agron is away on a mission for food and weapons, Nasir is slowly dying, after being struck with a deathly blow, when defending the camp from a surprise attack. Crixus is sent to search for Agron and to return with him before the afterlife welcomes Nasir. Agron’s fire no longer burns after the Little Man’s death, only his heart and memories. During the final battle between Glaber and Spartacus, Agron is killed by the enemy and leaves the world to reunite with Nasir in the afterlife. (Spartacus lays Agron’s body to rest.)

In this case, the American industry seems to have bested your history classes. Not that I’m American, or live even near America (not that it should matter, really?), but it does seem that those “history books” or “Your history class” you mentioned haven’t really done you any massive favours.

“LOL” as much as you like at as many screen-filler as you like, no one is stopping you, I am simply pointing out what academics who probably know their area of expertise a lot better than you or I have stated. At the clear discrepancies you pointed out, I admit, I “LOLed” as well.

But as I said, hope you enjoy the series, or if not, enjoy “LOLing” at other series to your hearts content. Go for it, and have fun. :)

I honestly almost suffocated from “facepalming” so much at this. But, this is what we get when we study history from Wikipedia instead of scholars. Anyway, without further ado, allow me to present a counter-argument against the majority of this:

everything is so wrong historically that I stopped for the moment and consider if I’ll actually watch it

first of very first: they show a roman leader trying to convince the tracians to ally with them…

Firstly, it has been agreed by several scholars (B. Baldwin, H. Fast, BB. Strauss, T. Bradman and FW Walbank, to name a few actual academics who have studied the subject) that Spartacus was in fact, a Thracian. Thracians (not tracians) occupied the present day south-western Bulgaria, which would have been the south-western fringes of Thrace. Divided into separate tribes, the Thracians didn’t manage to form a lasting political government until the Odrysian state was founded in the 5th century BC, many a year after the time of Spartacus himself.

So, whether the Thracians were or were not related to these “geto-dacians’ (who, by the way, inhabited the northern areas of current Bulgaria and Romania) is rather irrelevant… they probably had some rows about land and military superiority at one stage or another. These however, as argued by actual scholars, are not the tribes referred to in the first episode of Spartacus.

Referring to their appearance and claiming them to supposedly be “blond haired and blue eyed”, you must be confusing Romania and Bulgaria to Scandinavia and Germania. But, you know, it’s an easy mistake to make. They are all in Europe.

Clothing wise, probably you’re right. The higher classes didn’t prance around naked. They didn’t have the same kind of relationship with nakedness as we in the modern days and were more comfortable with bare flesh, but yes, they wore tunics and capes. As can be seen in several occasions with the higher classes in the show as well.

In case it was unclear, Spartacus is as historically accurate as entertainment allows it to be. They employ 3 historians, specialists in the era to ensure they are as accurate as possible, but seeing that it is supposedly an ENTERTAINING television show rather than a historical education session, I suppose a few inaccuracies can be tolerated.

I probably would not have “facepalmed” at this as much if it didn’t mix “THIS IS HISTORY PEOPE” arguments with “LOL, HELLOOOOOO” and other, rather unwell vocalised sections. But hey, we’re all here to enjoy the show and if you need to decide it is fictional (which it is, it is a scripted tv show, not Jersey Shore) to enjoy it, go for it.

This is fandom. Even though the stars/big wigs are really cool to us fans, it’s a separate world. You do not share fandom shit with them. That’s just the way it goes. Yeah, you make great artwork or write fabulous fic. It stays with us. Deal with it.

I have to, to a degree, agree with this. I cringed so hard when I saw people posting fandom stuff to the LOTR cast, even though they laughed about it. I facepalmed when they did it to SPN cast. Now, we have an opportunity to actually in real time and personally communicate with the people behind our fandom of choice, and all we can do is “SQUEE WHEN CAN WE SEE SOME MAN SEX” or “SQUEE LOOK AT THIS SHIT I DID ABOUT YOU PEOPLE”. It’s good shit, don’t get me wrong, the fics and the drawings and the macros, they’re fantastic most of the time, but if I heard someone wrote erotic stories about me on their spare time, I’d be a little creeped out. And if I played a character that had a complex personality and a lot of other stuff going for it than “HAWT GAY SEXXX” I’d be a little insulted that all my fans wanted to know was when I was going to “GET ITT ONNNN” with my imaginery partner.

Just because the creators and the starts are kind enough to politely smile and nod when you post that crap to them, doesn’t mean they’re not facepalming behind their screens and hoping someone would actually ask them something that had some meaning.

Please don’t make the whole fandom look like arses. That is all.
